CLARK SEES WHAT LIFE WOULD BE LIKE IF HE HAD NEVER ARRIVED ON EARTH; TOM WELLING DIRECTS – Clark discovers that Kara sent messages from Krypton in the past that indicate that Brainiac wants to kill Baby Kal-El so Clark will not exist in the future. Clark is torn because he thinks the world would be better off if he had never arrived in Smallville. Jor-El arranges for him to see what life would have been like if Clark hadn’t existed – Lex is President of the United States, Kara is raised by the Luthors, Jonathan is alive, Lana is happily married and Chloe and Lois are ace reporters.
LEX AND LANA ARE TAKEN HOSTAGE – The two police officers who witnessed the spaceship land in the meteor shower take Lex and Lana hostage and threaten to kill them unless Lex reveals where he hid the spaceship. While escaping to the panic room in the mansion, Lex takes a bullet meant for Lana. Fearing Lex may bleed to death, Lana asks him to tell the officers the secret location, but he confesses the ship has been missing for weeks. Meanwhile, Clark discovers Lana has been researching the spaceship with Lex and fears she is close to discovering his secret.
CLARK IS SHOT! – Chloe is warned by Gabriel that he is going to set off a missile and obliterate all of Smallville. Still stripped of his super powers, Clark confronts Gabriel and ends up getting shot. In the hospital, Clark flatlines and his fate is left in Jor-El’s hands. Meanwhile, Lex believes Lionel has the key to open the spaceship.
CLARK LOSES HIS POWERS AND BEGINS A RELATIONSHIP WITH LANA – Jor-El strips Clark of his powers, making him human. Delighted to finally be “normal,” Clark pursues a relationship with Lana sans secrets. However, after Lana, Jonathan and Martha are taken hostage by three thugs, Clark must figure out how to save his family without his super powers.
CLARK VISITS THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE AND LANA FINDS A SPACESHIP – Having been transported to the Fortress of Solitude, Clark is confronted by Jor-El, who tells him he cannot return to Smallville, instead he must stay and prepare to save the planet. Also, transported to the Fortress, Chloe is unable to handle the sub-zero temperature and collapses, begging Clark to use his powers to save her. Jor-El forbids him to leave, but finally acquiesces, telling Clark he must return before sunset or there will be dire consequences. Meanwhile, Lana is horrified when she sees two Kryptonian aliens emerge from a spaceship discovered in the remnants of the meteor shower. The two aliens destroy what’s left of the town searching for Kal-El.
CLARK AND LANA FIND AN ABANDONED BABY IN THE CORNFIELD – Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) discover an abandoned baby in a field and take him back to the Kent farm. However, when the baby ages from a newborn to a 7-year-old in less than a day, it becomes clear he is aging at an abnormally rapid rate and they turn to Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) for help. Meanwhile, Genevieve (Jane Seymour) suspects Lex has the Kryptonian artifact from China and threatens Lionel (John Glover) to either recover it, or risk putting Lex’s life in danger.
CHLOE HELPS CLARK LEARN ABOUT HIS SUPERPOWERS AFTER HE LOSES HIS MEMORY – Kevin, a boy who has the power to wipe out people’s memories temporarily, turns his powers on Clark (Tom Welling) and accidentally causes him to have total amnesia. Chloe (Allison Mack) looks after him and teaches him about his superpowers while simultaneously trying to keep them secret. On his trip down memory lane, Clark meets Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and falls in love all over again. Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) takes advantage of the situation and attempts to unravel some secrets.
LIFEHOUSE ROCKS THE SMALLVILLE PROM – On the eve of the Smallville High School Prom, stuck-up candidate for Prom Queen Dawn Stiles is pulled into a coma when she crashes her car into a ravine filled with kryptonite. While her body lies in a coma, Dawn finds that her spirit can possess the bodies of others. To continue her quest to become Prom Queen, Dawn possesses the bodies of Martha (Annette O’Toole), Lana (Kristin Kreuk), Lois (Erica Durance), and Chloe (Allison Mack) in turn, leaving Clark bewildered at the abrupt personality change of his family and friends.
LANA IS ATTACKED AND ALL FINGERS POINT TO ALICIA – When a mysterious killer strikes at both Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and Jason (Jensen Ackles), Alicia (Sarah Carter) is the leading suspect and even Clark (Tom Welling) comes to doubt her innocence. Feeling betrayed, she secretly tricks Clark into revealing his powers in front of one of his friends. And Genevieve (Jane Seymour) returns to town with an offer for Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), who in turn has an offer for Jason.
ADAM ATTACKS LANA – Clark receives a panicked call from Lana and hears a gunshot before the line goes dead, but when he arrives at the Talon he is stunned to discover she is alive and well. Clark realizes the phone call came from the next day and that Adam is the one who will shoot Lana. Upon taking Clark to the Luthorcorp lab where Adam was being kept, Lex finds all of the staff murdered and suspects his father is behind it.
JONATHAN FACES LIFE-THREATENING HEART SURGERY – While his father is awaiting surgery, Clark befriends a young boy, Garrett, whose brother Vince just died from liver failure. However, everyone is shocked when Vince shows up at the hospital alive and seemingly well – until his liver starts failing again. In a desperate attempt to keep his brother alive, Garrett straps a Kryptonite bomb to himself and demands that Vince be given Jonathan’s liver or he will blow up the building.
CLARK SHARES HIS SECRET WITH A MYSTERIOUS NEW GIRL – Clark is forced to use his powers in front of Alicia, a new girl at school, but he is surprised to find out she has powers of her own. The two develop a bond through their shared secret, but things turn ugly after Alicia becomes obsessive about sharing Clark with anyone else – especially Lana. Meanwhile, Lana asks Lex to investigate Adam.
PETE LANDS HIMSELF IN SERIOUS TROUBLE AND DEMANDS CLARK USE HIS POWERS TO HELP HIM – After Pete purposely blows a street race, the thugs that run it threaten his life, so he asks Clark to use his powers to stop them. Furious that Pete would put himself in this position, Clark must figure out a way to save Pete and still protect his secret. Meanwhile, Jonathan begins to suffer the consequences of his deal with Jor-El.
CHLOE AND LEX INVESTIGATE ADAM – Clark discovers that his schoolmate Jordan can foresee the future, but is horrified when Jordan tells him he “sees” Lana dying in a fire in the next few days. Meanwhile, suspicious of his behavior, Chloe investigates Adam’s background and discovers some disturbing news.
CLARK AND LANA TRY TO KILL CHLOE – Clark and Lana each make an attempt on Chloe’s life for unknown reasons after they receive a mysterious e-mail from the Sommerholt Institute. Clark must discover the source of these e-mails after Chloe reveals she has uncovered proof that they are doing mind-control research at the lab and realizes they must be trying to kill her in order to prevent her from writing an expose. Meanwhile, Lana decides to rent the apartment above the cafe to Adam even though she feels he is hiding something dangerous about his past.
