Sioux City Journal has posted an article in which Erica Durance reflects on her time as Lois Lane on Smallville.
“I never want a good thing to end,” the actress who plays Lois Lane says. “But every chapter has to close.”
“I like playing Lois because she’s flawed…she’s a little bit of everything and maybe does the wrong thing but she turns around, she dusts herself off and she keeps going. ”
Although Durance has her eye on Lois’ Daily Planet nameplate as a keepsake, she hasn’t taken the job lightly. “I have scrapbooked the whole series. Things that seem so inconsequential – like my ticket for the first flight to L.A. – are there. So whenever I want to remember what went on I just go to the scrapbooks.”
And Lois? Durance’s performance was always inspired by someone close. “I always asked myself, ‘What would my mom do?’ That usually meant something that felt honest and good.
“As you get older, you start to look back on things you’ve done: ‘What can I set out in the universe that’s good and inspiring?’ At the end of the day, ‘Smallville’ sends a good message.”
