When Smallville began nine seasons ago, Clark Kent (Tom Welling) only had eyes for farm girl Lana Lang. But now, in the 10th and final season of the CW series, with the last son of Krypton on the verge of becoming Superman, Clark knows his heart truly belongs to Lois Lane (Erica Durance) – and in the Dec. 10 episode, the bachelor of steel will get down on one knee and pop the question. According to executive Brian Peterson, Welling and Durance shot Clark’s proposal on Nov. 17 in Vancouver, “and the weather was catastrophic: windy and freezing, pouring rain.” We hear the story will have Clark undertaking a perilous mission to rescue Lois from Slade Wilson (Michael Hogan) with assistance from allies Hawkman (Michael Shanks) and Stargirl (Britt Irvin). Peterson reluctant to dish much more, other than to say that the episode has Winds of War vibe (think love during strife) and that this “highest of highs is intertwined with the lowest of lows.” So, when’s the big day? “We’re only promising proposal,” says Peterson. “We’re not promising they’ll actually make it to the wedding.” – Jeff Jensen
