The Justice league is back
Since the super powered episode Justice, we have been wanted to see more tights in Smallville. In Odyssey, the League (plus new member Black Canary but without Impulse and Cyborg) hits the Arctic in search for Clark. Then, Impulse and Black Canary return in the episode Doomsday to help Clark separate Davis from Doomsday. That should satisfy our superhero-tights fix for the season.
-

Tess Mercer
We meet the new LuthorCorp CEO. Apparently, she has been left in charge in Lex’s absence.
-

DC Comics characters – Maxima, Plastique, Zatanna and villain Winslow Schott
This has been a season full of DC Comics characters – Maxima comes to Earth and sets her eyes on Clark in Instinct. Bette Sans Souci blasts to Metropolis in Plastique. The beautiful Zatanna grants Chloe’s and Clark’s wishes in Hex. Villain Winslow Schott aka Toymaker was hired by Lex to make Kryptonite bombs in Requiem.
-

The Red-Blue Blur
Though not yet in tights, Clark has already started a dual identity. Reports of his activities led to a string of “Good Samaritan” reports, culminating in Jimmy Olsen’s published photograph of a super-powered “Red-Blue blur” on the front page of the Daily Planet with the citizens adopting that name for their own vigilante.
-

Supergirl returns
At the end of Season 7, she was floating towards the Phantom Zone. That was the last we’ve seen her. Then, we run into her when the Crystal of Knowledge sent Clark and Lois into the Phantom in Bloodline. She came back to Earth but eventually left Smallville for good to find Kandor.

Jimmy and Chloe get married
Our favorite gal Chloe Sullivan marries her photographer boyfriend Jimmy Olsen in the episode Bride. Aren’t they the sweetest couple?
-

Brainiac takes over Chloe
All hell breaks loose as a monstrous creature attacks her wedding day. At the Fortress of Solitude, Chloe’s eyes are turned silver and we see Brainiac taking control of her body at the end of Bride.
-

Lex Luthor is alive
At the end of Bride, we see a bald man, surrounded by hospital tubes and wires, watching Chloe’s wedding video in a darkened room. And we all assume it was Lex Luthor… and we were right.
-

Doomsday
The entire season has been all about Clark meeting his ultimate destroyer. We finally see the beast, who is destined to kill Kal-El, has taken over Davis in Bride.
-

DC Comics’ Legion of Superheroes
We meet another group of superheroes but from they are from the future. Imra, Rokk and Garth or the Legion steps in from the future to help Clark stop Braniac and vanquish the Persuader. Legion was definitely a treat for all of us.
-

Lana Lang returns
For the past seven seasons, Smallville has always been more than just Clark Kent and his powers, it was also about his love for Lana Lang. This season, she returns after leaving in Arctic. Clana fans around the world rejoiced as Clark and Lana got together again. However, we discover she underwent Project Prometheus and got superpowers. Everything was okay for the her and Clark until she has to absorb the radiation from the kryptonite bomb about to destroy Metropolis sacrificing their love for the greater good. She leaves Smallville because her Kryptonite condition cannot be cured and she cannot be with Clark anymore.
-

Clark reveals his secrets to the world
Clark tells Lois his secrets and asks her to print his story before Linda Lake exposes him. But wait, we know this is Smallville so either this is a dream or we will go back in time to change this. Ha! We were right, that’s what Legion rings are for!
-

Oliver kills Lex Luthor
Even in his current state, Lex still manages to execute his evil plans. Not until Oliver was able to track him down and blew up the truck he was in. The remains in the truck were identified as Lex so can safely say he is dead, for now.
-

Injustice League
Smallville’s version of the Injustice League is Tess Mercer’s team of meteor freaks – Eva Greer, Plastique, Parasite, Livewire and Neutron. They were formed to find Doomsday for the Traveler to destroy. These leagues of superheroes are pretty neat.
-

The saviour of Kandor
At the end of Injustice, everyone shouted “What?!” It wasn’t because of what the orb said but because we missed it. The voice told Tess that she will be the savior of Kandor.
-

Clark fights Doomsday
The ultimate battle we all have been waiting for and we expected so much from it. But after a minute (and 3 seconds), it was over. That was it? Come on! We are happy Clark is alive but come on! Doomsday? That fast?
-

The House of Zod symbol
At the end of the season finale – Doomsday, we discover with Tess the orb burns the House of Zod symbol into the ground and a naked man appears whispering “Zod”. This is a good cliffhanger, right?
-

The death of Jimmy Olsen
When news came out about deaths in the finale, we were all looking at Chloe mainly because she is not in the comics. It never occurred to us that it would Jimmy because he is part of the mythology. When Jimmy died in Chloe’s arms after killing Davis, we were like “WTF? They screwed the story again!” Then at his funeral, we hear his real name was Henry James Olsen (not James Bartolomew Olsen). So who is this guy? Then we meet his little brother (who is believed to be the real Jimmy Olsen), Chloe gives him Jimmy’s camera and wonders if he will follow his brother’s footsteps. Now, it all makes sense – Jimmy was really younger than Clark and Lois. So all this time, our Jimmy wasn’t really the Jimmy we thought he was.
