Casting News: Callum Blue will play Zod
Kneel before Callum Blue. The alum of such shows as Related, The Tudors and Secret Diary of a Call Girl has been tapped to join Smallville in the series regular role of big, bad Zod. He’ll first appear in the Season 9 premiere, airing September 25.
Casting News: Brian Austin Green Is Metallo
Brian Austin Green has been cast on Smallville as the DC Comics villain Metallo, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego “Daily Planet” journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which takes flight Friday, Sept. 25.

Smallville Season 8 DVD release date is August 25
Warner Home Video has officially announced the August 25th release date of the Smallville Season 8 DVD which includes the following Bonus Material: Cast/Creator Commentaries, Unaired Scenes, Featurette: “Smallville’s Doomsday: The Making of a Monster” and Featurette: “In the Director’s Chair: Behind the Lens and Calling the Shots with Allison Mack”. The studio has also provided the finalized 3D package art pictures.
