The CW renews Smallville for Season 9
Comics Continuum – Smallville has been picked up for a ninth season by The CW, sources have confirmed for The Continuum.
Tom Welling, who stars as Clark Kent, will return to the role for the new season. It is unclear which other Season 8 cast members — Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, Aaron Ashmore, Sam Witwer and Cassidy Freeman — will be back.
Darren Swimmer, Todd Slakin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson took over showrunner duties in Season 8 from Al Gough and Miles Millar. Swimmer and Slakvin are working on The CW’s Melrose Place pilot and will remain there if it’s picked up as a series, leaving Souders and Peterson to continue.
Smallville was one of six series to get a pick-up from The CW, according to the Hollywood Reporter, joining Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210, Supernatural and America’s Next Top Model.

I guess they ponied up the cash and got Tom to accept another season. I was starting to wonder what else they might’ve paired with Supernatural if Smallville didn’t come back for Season #9.

Great to hear that they are going forward to season 9, however i hope that it’s better than season 8. There were only couple of eps. really good in season 8. I wonder if season 9 would be the last season for smallville and Cast?
Lana(Kristine Kureck) seems to be doing for herself in the movie film area.

But Smallville managed to overcome its weaknesses and this season has so far been the best we’ve all seen I believe in a long time! Congrats to the show for getting picked up for Season 9!

When I read the news, I was so excited! its great they are going to make a new season. I was really really upset and sad thinking that this 8th season was going to be the last one. I am so happy! We are going to see more of Clark Kent, but I hope the next season will be more of Superman, I’m dying to see Tom Welling in the red cap and romancing Lois.

ok they are going to do a 10th season 1 because he still hasnt really thought
of his destiny , i think lana was on the show to long
on the last episode he get the suit dates lois and flyes but i think it would have been good if lex killed lana! but she should have casted for the act of lois because kristin looks way better than errica! i hope dd doesnt kill cloe, lex ruined the show !
bm might come and join the jl but still it would be good for the show if lana didnt get powers, and she didnt get infected, and clark and her should just be friends.

It has been the best superman ever. I am so glad they are doing a 9th season. You people out there, that think it is a bad idea or dumb then just stop watching and quit complaining. No one is forcing you to watch it. It is going to be a great season. I just hope Clark and Louis get together and he will finally fly.

We’re glad that there is going to be a ninth season. We’re hooked on the show.
We (my family) agree that the storyline is exciting but everytime there is an exciting episode that gives us direction and something to look forward to, you follow up with a fluff episode the next week and the story stops for a little meteor freak action. There are too many fluff episodes. Let’s rip the roof off of this baby!!

another few episodes should have been put in there
its not good to leave viewers in suspense especially at the ending of doomsday
i thought as davis was supposed to end up an angel but once a beast always a beast even if separated
i can’t wait for season 9 i hope its great.
was a lil disappointed with the ending of doomsday looks like zod is back i assume cuz of the Z in front of the mansion
enough talk more action and too much tie in bringing out season 9 the wait is excruciating

Season 8 finally was a lame duck.I’m a big superman fan and I ws looking for a little more.I was hoping for a good battle between clark and doomsday.Not a masive one just better that what was shown.whats with lois going into the future with clarks ring?What happend to krypto?When is martha kent going to make an apperance?I understand Jimmy getting killed cuz jimmy is younger than clark and this one was the same age as him.I knew it was not going to be Allison Mack because I belive it will be her death that pushes clark into excepting his destiny and becoming the man of steel.I’m glad there is a season 9 but this show has gone on to long.Its called Smallville not Metroplis.This should be the last season..

YES, I grew up watching almost all the superhero shows and movies, and this is by far one of the best.
I cant believe everything that happened so far, I am really excited
I just wished that you guys stayed with the original story line more, of course you could always do something to get it back on track…..
Now as far as how I would like it to end, I think that it should go about 10 seasons…. I would love to see tom become superman and start dating lois ( go clois ) and then I would love to see the guys do a spin off so that you could turn it into a justice league type thing… Now that would be cooooool !!!! imagine everyone and all the possibilities for story lines!!! well that is my oppinion….

i really enjoyed smallville. i’ve been watching it since season 1. im definitely addicted to the show. i really have many hopes, which are the following:
season 9 should be the last one (although I STILL love it)
lex luthor should come back at least for 10 episodes
lois & clarck should have a relationship
lana should be cured (they didn’t mention anything about it, when she absorbed kryptonite)

I’ve watched all the seasons on Smallville, aside from season seven. I’m glad that there’s going to be a season nine, and hopefully a season ten. Smallville is the best show I’ve ever seen, it never fails to keep me on the edge. I’ll be sad to see it go.. I agree with some of the earlier posts, though, that the earlier seasons were much better. Season three will always be my favourite (I love Clark when he’s on red kryptonite! Tom Welling would make such a good villain!)
