Comics Continuum – Smallville has been picked up for a ninth season by The CW, sources have confirmed for The Continuum.
Tom Welling, who stars as Clark Kent, will return to the role for the new season. It is unclear which other Season 8 cast members — Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, Aaron Ashmore, Sam Witwer and Cassidy Freeman — will be back.
Darren Swimmer, Todd Slakin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson took over showrunner duties in Season 8 from Al Gough and Miles Millar. Swimmer and Slakvin are working on The CW’s Melrose Place pilot and will remain there if it’s picked up as a series, leaving Souders and Peterson to continue.
Smallville was one of six series to get a pick-up from The CW, according to the Hollywood Reporter, joining Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210, Supernatural and America’s Next Top Model.
sweet as am real stoked theres another season, i reckon if they put some more thought into the storyline they might be able to make season nine as good as the better earlier ones.

Hey I’m so happy they bringing a season 9. They should bring 5 more season for me, I enjoyed smallville to the max but only one thing please get rid of lana lane she bores me and she holding back everything with the superman shit, get louis involve more dam!!!! anyway i like the justice league thing with green arrow bring on the rest of them. i like clark cousin let her be super girl with them bring her back. i really enjoyed smallville. i’ve been watching it since season 1. im definitely addicted to the show. i really have many hopes, which are the following:
season 9 should be the last one (although I STILL love it)
lex luthor should come back at least for 10 episodes
lois & clarck should have a relationship
lana should be cured (they didn’t mention anything about it, when she absorbed kryptonite)
i definately agree wit u krypton. its been a wonderful show, but all things must come to an end. i hope the wirters/directors both read our comments & just make a final season, which the fans are gonna luv

I’ve watched all the seasons on Smallville, aside from season seven. I’m glad that there’s going to be a season nine, and hopefully a season ten. Smallville is the best show I’ve ever seen, it never fails to keep me on the edge. I’ll be sad to see it go.. I agree with some of the earlier posts, though, that the earlier seasons were much better. Season three will always be my favourite (I love Clark when he’s on red kryptonite! Tom Welling would make such a good villain!)
