Just when you think Smallville could not have more twist and turns, it does. There are more secrets than there is a Fort Knox in all of Smallville. Lionel: is he really an alias to Clark or is he becoming what he used to be? Lex: is he helping Kara or researching her to discover about Clark’s secret? And what is the deal with Patricia Swann: good or bad? All good questions in need of an answer and of course they leave us hanging.
There is a new secret out there that is very interesting. It seems that the Teague’s, the Swans’, the Queens, and the Luthor’s have a group of rich friends who met once a summer so that they could greet the traveler when he arrived from outer space. They called themselves VERITAS. Remember that symbol that Lex saw in his window. They are what the four families used as their sign. And only one is living: Lionel Luthor. It seems that Patricia Swann has an interesting theory of what happened to the other members. She thinks that Lionel has killed him them all. And more than likely he probably did. At first it’s not easy to decide of Patricia is on the up and up. After all she wants to take the last son of Krypton with her. She wants to pick up the research where her dad left off. But why? Is it because she is out for the greater good or is it because she wants him for herself? And what about Lionel? Does he want Clark for himself or is he protecting him.
Well, Lionel had Clark locked in a Kryptonite cage. And his torturer who was working for Lionel kept turning up the juice. And down Clark would go. They had kidnapped him from the far with a Kryptonite tazer. When Lana saw the barn she called Chloe and the two of them found one of the barbs from the tazer and that he had left the key. Lana said that he had come out to the barn to find something because he was going to talk to Jor-el about Kara. But he never made it to the Fortress and the two women make a plan to get her out of Luthor mansion.
Lex plans on extracting Kara’s memory in the guise of returning it. Kara is all gung-ho and trusting Lex. DUMB DUMB DUMB!!! I just don’t get why she had to be so stupid about Lex. I know, Lana did to but she is supposed to have been of a superior alien race and still she falls for him. He is not all that. Well, he is suave but come on. Well, he never gets the chance because GIRL POWER wins!!! Lana and Chloe break into the mansion and get her out before Lex can get in her head. Chloe takes Kara to the Fortress and begs Jor-el to give Kara her powers back. She gets them and it is Kara to the rescue.
All things were going bad back where Clark was being kept. Patricia had come to switch the evidence showing Lionel is guilty for Clark. But the guard has another idea. Lionel had him knock out Patricia and told him to take Clark home but the guard decided that he would kill Clark instead and knocks out Lionel. As he turned up the juice, Kara broke in and saved the day. Lionel ends up killing the guard but Clark already saw him.
Patricia came to see Clark and gave him Virgil Swann’s journal and he said he hoped he could live up to every ones expectations of him as the traveler. She said he knew he would and she tells him that he needed to watch out for Lionel and that she would have a apartment in Metropolis so she would be there if he needed her. And then he goes to see Lionel and the gloves were off. Clark is mad and he wants to know if Lionel was hiding him because he had been getting notes from someone who was coming after Clark why did he lock Clark in a Kryptonite cell? Lionel said he was different but Clark says no he had not.
Kara comes to the loft and Clark thanks her for helping him. She said she could not have done it without Lana and Chloe. But she was sorry that she had trusted Lex and Clark said he was guilty of trusting Lionel as well. He said he wanted to see the good in people but the Luthor’s were a lost cause. We then see Patricia Swann driving to Metropolis. Only she never makes it. She is killed by one of Lex’s men and then we see Lex wiping her blood of the necklace her father had given her. And then fade to black!
A few things here. I know Clark was locked up in a cell but there was little interaction with him and any one. And recently, there are precious few Clana scenes. Is it because TPTB are trying to appease everyone on the boards by not having them in shots together? Or is there another reason which I will not even say. But my favorite thing is Tom has been working out. He has seriously buffed up. Ah how nice!!
This episode was interesting how they brought back part of Virgil Swann’s family. That way Clark could come back to his roots. There is a plan out there for Clark and I have a feeling it is coming soon!
