If I could write my review and give you just one word, it would have to absolutely be “Wow!” Not only did my ship dock into my favorite port of call but Clark, man oh man, Clark Kent is acting like a natural born Superman. Did I get an air of Jonathon Kent some where in his tactics with Kara? Or how about said cousin going by the Kent name? How sweet was that? But I know you want a few more words than wow, so allow me to expand upon my feelings.
I am firstly going to jump over that land mine that is my favorite ship and jump straight into Lex. Okay, what is his deal? It is like he woke up one morning and thought to himself that now he has a second chance (Or is this a third, fourth? Ah, I’ve lost count!) at another super human Kent and this one is of the fairer sex. Why is it that both Kent’s had to save Lex from a watery grave in the same manner? At least Lex actually witnessed this one. And does this mean we are going to spend a season of him trying to decide if she is truly a savior or simply a warning of things to come? Who knows? This is Smallville and stranger things have happened. One final Lex note, okay, winning back Lana? Dude, you so need to try something better than complimenting her on her skills with stealing money from you. I don’t think telling the one you love that they are an excellent cheat wins you any brownie points. Let it go, Lex. That ship has sailed. Thank God! (Sorry, Lexana lovers!)
Now on to the Chloe, Jimmy, and Kara love triangle. Chloe is glad that her boyfriend is back and yet he is making eyes at Kara. At the Corn festival, there was some serious vibes going over all the produce and I think Clark saw it too. Of course, Jimmy comes to help Chloe land the story that got her on the front page of the Planet: 3 meteor freaks that affect the world not only with fashion but in a meteorlogical sort of way. Well, Kara saves Jimmy from being frozen to death in his car and yet the sparks fly again. We see it all too clear when Jimmy finishes asking Chloe if she wanted to be his partner in taking down all the meteor freaks in Smallville. Not good, since Chloe is one herself. But who might be over behind the two love birds but Kara. Was there tension in the room again? This is a ship worth watching here folks!!
Let’s go back to the El cousins. Clark is trying hard to show Kara how to fit in and how exactly does she try and do that? By entering in a beauty contest of course. She looked rather nice in her red bikini and how cool of TPTB to dress her in primary colors. Just like Cousin Clark. Well, I haven’t seen him in a bikini but Speedo’s would be extra special nice. I loved how Clark was showing Kara how to use her heat vision and can you say priceless when the watermelon exploded all over Clark! In the end she has to save him from the weather girls and even though he might not approved of her methods, he was glad she came to save him. Incidentally, did I mention Kara won said beauty pageant? She even has a job working at the Talon. So she is trying to fit in but tells Clark that he can’t stay hiding out on the farm because does he really think he can stay there growing old with Lana. He does I think. I just love the cousin dynamics. Teacher Clark, student Kara. Both learning from the other.
Now, the part I have been waiting for: the return of Lana Lang!!! I loved how he so nonchalantly thought he was talking to Kara and when Lana touched him, he knew it was her. The look of happiness on his face was the sweetest thing ever. I loved their whole conversation and how there is no drama, no angst. Just two people in love and stepping towards a promising future together. Did you see how he told her she would be safer to move in with him? I almost fell off the couch!! And the cute way she told him that he would never understand teenage girls whether she be from Krypton or Kansas. Pure bliss! They were so sweet at the festival talking about the future and she said she wanted to wake up each day and just be there for each othe and she wanted to grow old with him. I saw him whence a tiny bit at that one but it didn’t last long. He is happy, truly and completely happy right now and so is Lana and that is all I have to say about that. For now!
The acting, the dynamics, the love triangles, the drama now between Lex and Kara all make up for an exciting episode! I can safely say that I am sure that my husband has a big bruise on his arm from me being so excited and squeezing the life out of his arm. I was just so excited!! It was one of my fave episodes as Tom did a wonderful job as so did Laura, Kristin, Michael and the whole gang! This season has started with a bang and it can only get bigger!!
